JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
To oversee the day-to-day operations of the piggery. Develop and implement management strategies to optimize production and reduce costs. Plan breeding cycles, feeding schedules, and health protocols

Main Accountabilities
1. Overall operations at the piggery & ensure that all pigs are health and well taken of.
2. Keeping accurate records of the piggery operations. (herd performance, breeding and health)
3. To perform excellent Husbandry skills.
4. Communicate with all relevant employees to ensure delivery times are met.
5. Plan, schedule, and review workload and manpower to make sure targets are being met.
6. Oversee feeding, breading, and farrowing activities.
7. Manage the following below:
8. Breeding.
9. Breeder of breeder’s selection.
10. AI service list preparation and insemination supervision.
11. Farrowing
12. Replacement stock selection
13. Ensure that piglet mortality reduction while maximizing farrowing percentage.
14. Ensure that feed wastage is reduced.
15. Performance monitoring of fatteners for daily gains, fattening pig days.
16. Organizations of the ingredients, ready -made feed.
17. Feed formulations and compounding rations.

Key Requirements
• Should be able to organize, supervise and manage the labour force effectively so as to extract maximum efficiency out of them.
• Practical and hands on
• Previous Pig farm experience and pig farm working knowledge
Education and Work Experience
• Minimum Diploma in Agriculture – Animal Science Major
• Previous 8 years’ post qualification experience with 3 years in a Supervisory role at a large piggery.
