Job description:
Purpose
The Shutdown Planner is responsible for developing, managing, and optimising detailed plans for major shutdowns of the S3 Process Plant. This includes ensuring that preventative maintenance master data is accurate and up to date, planning corrective maintenance activities, and coordinating complex project schedules. The Shutdown Planner plays a critical role in ensuring that work during shutdown stages is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
1. Shutdown Planning and Coordination:
• Develop and maintain a master shutdown schedule in MS Project, integrating inputs from operations, maintenance, logistics, and support departments.
• Manage resource loading, analyse parallel activities, and optimise schedules to ensure shutdown deliverables are met.
• Facilitate and lead shutdown planning meetings with relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate resources, tasks, safety measures, and compliance during major plant outages to minimise downtime.
2. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Planning:
• Plan preventive and corrective maintenance jobs for the S3 Process Plant shutdowns to ensure equipment integrity and availability.
• Create detailed work orders in CMMS, including labour, resources, special tools, materials, and third-party services.
• Develop standard work plans and scopes based on manufacturer guidelines and FQML procedures.
• Monitor planned job feedback and integrate findings into future plans, identifying and prioritising preventive maintenance needs.
3. Resource and Material Management:
• Create requisitions for non-stock materials and coordinate the creation of new stock codes.
• Maintain and update Bills of Material (BOM) for equipment and ensure all required materials are catalogued.
• Track contractor labour and charge time to relevant purchase orders.
4. Reporting and KPI Management:
• Generate and present KPI reports to leadership and relevant teams, including shutdown progress, backlog management, and cost analysis.
• Monitor and analyse performance indicators, ensuring adherence to deadlines and maintenance efficiency goals.
5. Collaboration and Team Support:
• Work closely with plant supervisors, Superintendents, and other departments to align on maintenance strategies and shutdown plans.
• Provide technical support to maintenance personnel, optimising costs and maximising production efficiencies.
• Foster positive working relationships with internal and external clients at all levels.
6. Compliance and Continuous Improvement:
• Ensure all shutdown activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Analyse repetitive failures and propose long-term solutions to maximise equipment availability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by developing and refining planning processes and tools.
Internal and External Relations
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the successful preparation and execution of shutdown plans.

Qualifications

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or civil engineering, or a related field.
