Job Description:
The key purpose is to manage, maintain and improve the efficiency of PLC software and hardware, General Electrical and instrumentation for the Plant and to develop competence throughout the business on PLC, SCADA, Control and Electrical systems
- Support line teams with PLC and
- SCADA troubleshooting
- Optimize maintenance costs
- Optimize control systems
- Field instrumentation maintained and calibrated
- Measuring devices maintained and calibrated
KEY RESULT AREAS AND OUTCOMES:
Optimize PLC and SCADA hardware and software standards for site
• Optimize control systems
Maintenance and calibration of field instrumentation and measuring devices
- Field instrumentation maintained and calibrated
- Measuring devices maintained and calibrated
Facilitate problem solving
- Identify problems or potential problems
- Support line teams
Manage Human Resources
- Manage and apply personnel practices
Optimize team performance
- Facilitate effective team dynamics
- Communicate effectively in the workplace
Maintain Safe Healthy and Risk Free Working Environment
- Implement safety, health and environmental legislation and procedures
- Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
Apply the focused improvement process
- Lead the application of focused improvement processes to deliver
ongoing improved performance within the production site
Maintenance of Site Electrical Equipment
• Maintain and Support Electrical Standards for Site as per Group Standards
• Plan and Implement maintenance of Electrical Systems, PLC & SCADA Systems in accordance with COSWIN
• A&C, E&I standards maintained
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND MEASURES:
1. Plant Reliability
• Plant Efficiencies and Reliability
2. Plant Performance
• Malting Quality results
• Trending and Data analysis systems
• Wastage reduction
• Energy Improvement and General Cost reduction
3. Asset Management
- Instrumentation and Hardware Spares stocks levels maintained and checked on regular basis
4. Systems Reliability
• Malting plant systems reliability
5. Change Control
• Change control processes entrenched
6. Health, Safety and Environment
• Adherence to PPE policies
• Instrumentation workshop housekeeping
• Identification of unsafe practices
• Safety inspections conducted and audited
• Safe maintenance practices audited
7. People
- People Development followed up, especially in the following areas:
• PLC skills, Basic Electrical and instrumentation, maintenance skills,
Inspection and Coding systems
8. Manufacturing Way
• Continuous improvement processes entrenched
9. Site Electrical
• Site Electrical Usages
• Manage Site Electrical Reticulation Standards
Key Attributes:
- Implement the malting plants manufacturing systems and the team
• Ensure best maintenance practices are applied whilst ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.
• Reject any manufacturing systems not in compliance with ABI Standards.
• Make modifications to enhance performance and malting plant’s efficiencies.
• Stop any machine if it appears to endanger safety of any person. If the stoppage is longer than 30 minutes, the Instrumentation Artisan must inform the respective departmental Engineer of the problem.
• Maintain Site Electrical and Power Distribution in alignment with Maintenance Team and Engineering Manger
• Approve Site Electrical and Installation in compliance with ABI.

• Training: Min – SIMATIC Training in PLC on site
• Ideal – Advance SIMATIC Training plus 12 months on the job training and experience with SCADA System maintenance.
