Our client in Lusaka is looking for a Programme Driver to join their team for a job vacancy within the NGO industry.

Designation
The Driver will serve an important role in the supporting the transport team under the operations department.

Reporting
The postholder will report to the Operations Manager. Indirectly, the post-holder will be relating to and working with a wide range of stakeholders within the organisation and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
Driving
• Drive vehicle for official travel and business, or as requested by management.
• Maintain high standard of service to both internal and external guests.
• Ensure punctuality and safe transport.
• Observe the road traffic laws and Zambian regulations.
• Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to, including local driving codes and internally agreed policies and standards.
• Alcohol must not be consumed or present whilst on duty.

Car Security & Maintenance
• Ensure vehicles are always kept clean, tidy and in good working condition.
• Ensure vehicle is always kept secure and parked safely.
• Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.

Fleet Administration
• Record all vehicle operation, maintenance, expenses, mileage after use of any vehicle assigned to them.
• Assist the Operations Manager to ensure vehicle insurance, fitness and registration is updated according to schedule.
• Log all trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, etc.

Conduct
• Shall not carry any unauthorised passengers.
• Perform all errands and fulfil all assignments.
• Follow the Organisation handbook.
• Adhere to the organisation’s Code of Conduct and Child protection policy guidelines.
• Must represent the organisation by maintaining the highest standard of smartness.

Qualifications, Skills, And Experience
• Grade twelve school certificate
• Defensive driving certificate
• At least five (5) years of driving experience
• Experience working with government or NGOs
• Knowledge in vehicle mechanics
