Amref Health Africa in Zambia is inviting suitably qualified applicants for the Project Officer-Malaria position to be based at the Head Office in Lusaka.
Main purpose of the job
The Project Officer will be responsible for day to day implementation of infection prevention (Malaria) project. He/She will coordinate and facilitate capacity building training for stakeholders under the project. The project Officer is also expected to build strategic partnerships with stakeholders in the Malaria sector in the implementation sites including the Ministry of Health. He/She will be responsible for high quality project performance to meet stakeholders expectations are met.

Specific Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:
• Implement evidence-based strategies and investments in Malaria technical area
• Coordinate and sustain partnerships and maintains regular communication with various stakeholders including the Ministry of Health to enhance programme delivery/execution.
• Work with the Ministry of Health and stakeholder to strengthen Community response to Malaria.
• Take part in relevant coordination meetings and technical working groups meetings
• Responsible for preparation of activity reports as per donor requirements and internal purposes.
• Conduct high quality capacity building training/Orientation and mentorship on Malaria response for stakeholders
• Participate in the project review meetings, project monitoring and evaluation, reporting and documentation including documentation of best practices and development of knowledge products.
• Represent the organization externally i.e. MoH, stakeholders and donors
• Prepare activity budgets in compliance with internal control procedures
• Drive the Amref staff culture initiatives to enhance collaboration across the organization.
• Participate actively in any other duties assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field.
• Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of project management approaches.
• Knowledge of current issues in infectious diseases (Malaria) is preferred.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• 4-6 years’ relevant work experience in executing health related projects particularly Malaria projects
• Experience working with or liaising with government institutions.
• Ability to design and execute projects, including steering work planning,
• Cost-effective and efficiency management of resources to deliver on objectives.

Skills and Abilities
• Verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with others, both internally and externally.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Strong skills in stakeholder management across diverse groups.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-cultural teams.
