JOB DETAILS:
Our client, one of Zambia’s largest franchisee manufacturing carbonated beverages and non-carbonated beverages is looking to hire a Refrigerator Technician.

Key Responsibilities:
Installation
• Install new refrigerators and freezers in residential and commercial settings, ensuring proper connections and functionality.
• Follow manufacturer guidelines for the installation of refrigeration units.
Maintenance.
• Perform regular maintenance on refrigerators and freezers to ensure optimal performance.
• Clean, lubricate, and inspect mechanical components such as fans, compressors, and evaporators.
• Check refrigerant levels and add refrigerant as necessary, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Repairs
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration system issues such as temperature inconsistencies, leaks, electrical problems, and mechanical malfunctions.
• Replace faulty parts such as thermostats, compressors, motors, or condenser coils.
• Test repaired systems to confirm that they are functioning properly.
Troubleshooting
• Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to identify the root cause of issues.
• Provide accurate estimates for repairs and replacements, taking into account parts, labor, and time required.
Customer Service
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding issues, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
• Educate clients on the proper usage and care of their refrigeration systems.
Safety and Compliance.
• Follow all safety protocols when working with electrical and refrigeration systems.
• Stay updated on industry regulations, including refrigerant handling and disposal, and ensure compliance with local and national codes.
Documentation
• Keep accurate records of service visits, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Provide detailed reports and invoices to clients.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in refrigeration or HVAC preferred.
• 2+ years of experience as a refrigerator or HVAC technician, including experience with both residential and commercial refrigeration systems.
• Must be a valid member of Engineering Institution of Zambia.
• Valid Driver’s License. Required for travel to customer sites.
• Knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical circuits, mechanical components, and cooling technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues accurately and efficiently.
• Strong communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to service and problem resolution.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined or uncomfortable spaces.
• Precision in diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring systems are operating optimally.
• Knowledge of safety standards and proper handling of refrigerants and hazardous materials.
