JOB DETAILS:
Background
The objective of this project is to explore the potential products that can be developed using honey, aloe vera, propolis, and mud. The research will include identifying the possible products, as well assessing the sourcing of these raw materials in Kenya. Additionally, this project aims to consider the opportunities for Maasai women to develop and produce these products, empowering them economically and supporting their aspirations.

Objective
To conduct comprehensive research that will result in the development of a research paper for the creation of natural and organic products using honey, aloe vera, propolis, and mud. This objective is informed by the potential for Maasai women to engage in and benefit from the development and production of these products, in line with their needs and aspirations.

Scope of Work
The researcher will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Product Identification
• Research and identify potential products that can be developed using honey, propolis(other products from bees), aloe vera, and mud.
• Provide detailed descriptions and benefits of each identified product.
• Identify products that align with the skills, resources, and aspirations of Maasai women.
2. Sourcing Raw Materials
• Investigate and document potential sources for large quantities of honey, aloe vera, propolis, and mud.
• Assess the feasibility and sustainability of sourcing these raw materials.
• Develop a logistics plan for the procurement of these materials.
3. Partnership Identification
• Identify potential partners, including local farmers, beekeepers, apiaries, research institutions, and manufacturing units.
• Evaluate the value-addition potential of these partnerships.
• Explore partnerships with Maasai women’s groups and cooperatives.
4. Market Research
• Conduct a market analysis to assess the demand for natural and organic products.
• Analyze the competitive landscape and identify market opportunities.
• Assess market opportunities specifically for products developed by Maasai women.

Deliverables
The researcher will provide the following deliverables:
1. Research Paper
• Detailed report on potential products, their benefits, and market demand.
• Sourcing strategy for raw materials.
• Partnership potential and value addition analysis.
• Specific recommendations for products and strategies that can empower Maasai women.
Required Qualifications
• Proven experience in market research.
• Knowledge of natural and organic products.
• Experience working with community development projects, preferably with indigenous groups.
• Strong analytical and report writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Consultancy Period
The assignment is expected to be carried out within a period of three weeks
