• We are hiring!
• Our client in the non-governmental organization (NGO) Industry is looking to hire Secretary General (SG)
Overview of role:
• The Secretary General (SG) is the public face of the organization and is responsible for providing strategic and visionary leadership with full operational responsibility in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to effectively address emerging issues, risks and opportunities related to humanitarian relief and aimed at alleviating human suffering.
Main Responsibilities:
• Strategy formulation and alignment whilst providing strategic leadership and direction to staff.
• Directing and exercising overall control of the operations to ensure that its activities are managed in a professional and efficient manner in order to meet its mission and strategic objectives.
• Implementation of policy decisions
• Human Capital and Organization development, including compliance with the employee and volunteer code of conduct and procedures.
• Ensure that the client has requisite and on –going financial resources including overseeing the implementation of resource allocation, efficient program implementation and competent program monitoring and reporting.
• Develop and maintain strategic alliance to strengthen collaborative partnership and networks with relevant government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders in order to advocate, represent.
• Prepare concept papers, Board papers, periodic progress reports and annual reports showing organization achievements against planned targets as well as providing justification for performance variance and areas of improvements.
• Oversee the development and implementation of an effective fundraising strategy in line with long-term and short-term objective.
• Ensure branches meet the minimum standard in developing their structures and capacity to implement programmes and activities and ensure increased national and sector (i.e. development and corporate) membership.
• Ensure effective financial control and management is in place.
Experience
• Masters degree in Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimal ten (10) years’ experience gained from top tier NGO’s or relevant humanitarian organizations.
• Demonstrated track record of strong leadership, team building, conflict resolution and motivating effective and productive teams in an organization of comparable size.
• Establishing, managing and developing collaborative working relationships with a range of internal and external bodies
• Broad knowledge of disaster management, health and humanitarian relief
