JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the Position
Responsible for identifying, and managing key partnerships while also implementing strategies that maximize user acquisition, engagement, and retention
To implement profitable opportunities with strategic partners with a view to growing the Showmax and DStv Stream subscriber base, increase the streaming subscription revenue, maintain and grow partnerships through effective collaboration at all levels of partner organisations
To effectively manage and leverage resources to realise business objectives
Implement strategic growth and revenue initiatives across Southern Markets by leveraging data, optimizing acquisition and retention, enhancing market structures, and building local talent to drive sustained subscriber growth.
Key Performance Objectives
Strategy Formulation and Prioritization
• Give input in the development of partnership and growth strategy by identifying and quantifying opportunities through insightful business intelligence, market trends and business objectives
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of potential partnership and growth opportunities, including market entry points, and revenue-generating collaborations. Prioritize these opportunities based on impact and feasibility, compiling them into a clear roadmap together with the Executive Head of Partnerships, ensuring a focus on high-priority growth initiatives.
• Maintain accountability for the execution and performance of implemented strategies, measuring key metrics, and analyzing growth against predefined success benchmarks. Provide regular reporting on the impact and success of these initiatives to demonstrate effectiveness and guide future adjustments.
Partnership Acquisition and On-boarding
• Define partnership implementation objectives aligned with Showmax and DStv Stream objectives including which customer problems we are solving for and partnership subscription targets
• Engage and negotiate with partners to reach shared and agreed objectives to be translated to commercial agreements and most desired customer user journeys
• Assist legal teams to draft and finalize commercial agreements aligned to shared objectives and discussions
• Coordinate cross functional and bi-party collaboration to achieve objectives captured in commercial agreements. e.g. Technical, Value propositions, and full GTM etc.
• Ensure growth of their direct reports through mentoring, knowledge sharing and project management experience
Partnership Management
• Build and maintain solid relationships with partners at all levels (including finance, marketing, ops, etc.) to ensure an efficient working relationship between Showmax and the partner
• Ensure direct report resources are assigned in the most effective manner to drive the most value from each partnership.
• Delegate day-to-day operation interactions with partners to direct reports but maintain fully informed through regular status and mentoring sessions with them.
• Remain the key contact for strategic partnerships without compromising integrity of direct reports with each partnership.
Partner Performance
• Manage partner performance to grow the partner base and increase ARPU
• Implement and drive the growth plan through partnerships by working closely with the in-country Streaming Leads by having regular meetings with partners (Partnerships Business Reviews) to help grow the partnerships, including sharing the roadmap of new features, relevant analysis, insights and learnings
• 1st first escalation point of contact for our partners post-launch
• Represent the voice of our partners to inform our product roadmap
• Share and discuss performance reports with the partners in order to grow the partner base and increase revenue
• Ensure partnership revenue is remitted timely by supporting the billing and finance processes
• Identify areas of improvement to meet growth targets by driving promotional initiatives, including new commercial offers, price changes, etc
Growth
• Implement Strategic Growth Initiatives: Lead subscriber growth strategies through acqusition channels across Southern Markets, leveraging data insights and content to boost acquisition, engagement, and retention.
• Optimize Revenue: execute cross sell initiatives to maximize ARPU through collaboration with CVM, Marketing, Product, and CX teams etc.
• Ensure Fit-for-Purpose Market Structures: Establish adaptable structures aligned to local needs to support effective execution, resource allocation, and customer focus.
• Build Local Talent and Capabilities: Address skill gaps and strengthen local teams to drive growth initiatives and manage partnerships for lasting subscriber and revenue growth.
• Monitor and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of subscriber growth initiatives and identify areas for improvement. Utilize insights to optimize customer acquisition, conversion rates, and engagement strategies, ensuring continuous subscriber growth momentum.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (MBA or other advanced degree preferred).
Experience
• 10+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, or growth roles, preferably within the media, entertainment, or technology industry
• Deep understanding of the streaming, digital media, and technology landscape, including knowledge of OTT platforms, telecom integrations, and customer acquisition strategies
