Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main purpose of job:
Reporting to the Residence Manager and working within a small team which includes a Chef, and another Steward. The Steward/Stewardess’s main responsibility is to maintain a welcoming, stimulating, attractive and safe environment at the High Commissioner’s Residence in Lusaka.
The Steward/Stewardess is responsible for maintaining and ensuring a high standard of hygiene when delivering support services at the Residence; services such as cleaning of the High Commissioner’s Residence (inside and outside), providing laundry and waiting services.
Roles and responsibilities:
• Receive and greet guests upon arrival.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the Residence; ensuring the Residence is kept in pristine condition, tidying all rooms, making beds, and ensuring that all rooms are supplied with required supplies and linen.
• In Collaboration with the Residence Manager, maintain and manage the silver, crystal, and linen inventory.
• Offer an efficient valeting service, including clothing and shoe care.
• Collaborate with the Chef on any specific requirements for the day.
• Monitor supplies of household cleaning products and alert Residence Manager when supplies run low.
• Set and serve meals for the High Commissioner’s family and guests ensuring the cleanliness of the dining room or terrace after meals.
• Consulting with the Estates Team, ensure that all maintenance works are reported using the Maintenance Request Form (MRF) and follow up with Estate Team on pending works in conjunction with the Residence Manager.
• During official functions, collaborate with the Residence team to ensure successful events and assist in general entertainment duties, includes table and bar layout, serving food and beverages, clearing up.
• Perform all duties with discretion, professionalism, and a pleasant demeanour.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
• Proficiency in English
• Previous experience in household management or hospitality
• Catering or fine dining service experience
• General knowledge of household appliance operations and functions
• Meticulous and strong multitasking abilities.
• Up-to-date driver’s license

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
• High school or equivalent educational experience
• Familiarity with smart home equipment systems
