Overall Job Purpose:
The General Mechanical Technical Coach, Fixed Plant will coach and develop FQM Trident Process Plant Artisans, enhancing their technical skills and on the job behaviors to achieve a culture of high quality work and efficiency in the department. The coach will provide a mix of ‘on the job’ coaching and support to Artisans, and design and delivery of more formal coaching modules as required. This role requires the delivery of a continuous assessment processes to enable identification of Artisans development areas. The coach will need to work with the Coordinator and Training Department to pull the necessary training to address development needs. The coach will lead with a People First mindset and raise learner’s aspirations through their passion for the subject and method of interaction.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
• The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Deliver coaching and identify training according to the needs in the general mechanical sections of the engineering department. ‘On the job’ coaching will be a primary method used in the department along with more formal coaching modules supported in collaboration with Trident Training department.
• Ability to role model good practice and create a continuous learning environment; through the use of coaching methodologies and various instructional techniques identified via training needs assessments or observations.
• Use effective listening, assertiveness and questioning to support learners to engage with their learning plans and with assessment criteria and processes.
• Champion quality and provide visible leadership ‘on-the-floor’ in FQM operations.
• Use assessments and observations to identify skill gaps; create and deliver suitable interventions to address these gaps and then follow up to assess the impact.
• Identify potential Artisans with the ability and aspiration to progress to more senior roles and support their development.
• Design and complete assessments against the FQM Proficiency Framework. Occasionally act as an independent assessor for other FQM operations within Zambia.
• Adhere to and champion safe working procedures and practices for all work areas.
• Record interventions, actions assigned and progress using the learning management tools provided by the company.
• Frequently evaluate and report on the impact and effectiveness of the ongoing initiatives; make improvements as needed.
• Prepare supporting material for the delivery of coaching and training.
• Recognize and celebrate achievements and success in the team; provide candid feedback, engage at all levels and lead with a People First mindset.
• Observe and provide coaching and feedback to Senior Supervisors/Coordinators and Supervisors on opportunities to improve their supervisory skills.
• Create a coaching culture across the organization and upskill others in coaching methodologies .
• Collaborate with the training department to define training needs based on assessments completed.

Experience required to perform in this job:
• A minimum of 8-10 years’ maintenance experience in fixed plant crushing maintenance within process plant operations.
• Knowledge and application of safety in a mining process plant environment or similar.
• Desirable coaching experience (or coaching/training certification) in upskilling a workforce and/or deployment and execution of a coaching program within an organization.
• Essential knowledge and experience with:
• maintenance of centrifugal pumps, vertical spiral pumps, peristaltic pumps, gear and screw pumps, valves, precision measuring, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, oil centrifuges, bolting and torque techniques, bearing installation and maintenance, alignments, coupling installation and maintenance, pipe and flange installation and maintenance, v-belt maintenance and alignment, compressor and blower maintenance, rotor and stator float cell maintenance, vibrating screens, and lubrication systems.
• Knowledge of boiler making, rigging and scaffolding will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of rubber lining and tiling will be advantageous.
• Preferred experience with gearbox installation and maintenance.
• Preferred experience with cyclones.
• Experience with standard maintenance reliability processes – five whys, FMECA etc.
• Experience with the use of computerized maintenance management systems – Pronto preferred.
• A minimum of 3-5 years at supervisory level will be an added advantage.
• Solid computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs.

Qualifications:
• Full grade twelve (G12) school certificate.
• Minimum of diploma in Mechanical Engineering or trade equivalent.
• A degree in the relevant field of study will be an added advantage.
• Ability to obtain EIZ certification.
• Valid Zambian or International Driver’s License.
• Solid computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs.
