JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Head Supply Chain Services, the Warehouse & Inventory Controller will act as the interface between Procurement and Warehouse to control the day-to-day operations of the warehouse. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, managing and evaluating the inventory management activities and financial control of the warehouse as well as complying with regulatory mandates relating to safety and custody of inventory.

Principle Accountabilities
• To ensure that the Section adheres to published SHEQ guidelines and protocols (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018) with regards to a zero-based risk profile and compliance to Behavior Based Safety (BBS) and Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) guidelines.
• To Collate, publish, and implement a register of Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS) of all industrial chemicals warehoused on site.
• To oversee site warehouse operations including logistics, incoming/ outgoing freight movements, safe custody of inventory
• Maintain safe working procedures in the main warehouse and ancillary storage areas.
Ensure compliance to guidelines for stacking, binning and storage of stock items based on published storage guidelines.
• Follow Kagem published protocols on Receipting, Quality checking and Binning procedures.
• Ensure compliance to Bin location and Bin labels strategies.
• Ensure that material or stock items are stored according to Item Groups or Categories
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to review inventory reports/targets monthly.
• Liaise with the Procurement Team as required to maintain inventory at cost efficient and effective levels.
• Maintain updated and accurate records of inventory, including transfers and cycle counts.
• Review and ensure that Warehouse costs are kept within budget with regards to efficient and effective operations
• Develop and implement improvements to existing operational procedures to maximize efficiency and cut operations costs.
• Review and align Min/Max levels and resource utilization with internal stakeholders to ensure that redundant equipment spares when these equipment are scrapped is flagged and removed from inventory to balance inventory levels.
• Ensure that an efficient and effective rotable strategy is implemented to track the movement of repairable items and safeguard company assets,
• Ensure that redundant inventory as well as scrapped equipment is warehoused in the scrap yard and disposed off in line with company asset disposal policies.
• Manage all 9 subordinates in line with published HR guidelines to ensure delivery performance and meeting the Section’s KPIs
• To Ensure that each new stock item is managed through the New Stock Application process.
• Manage the Weekly Technical Standards Committee Meeting with Engineering and submit New Stock Applications on time and in line with company’s requirements.
• Nurture positive relationships with internal customers and subordinates and provide customer service as needed.

Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum Grade 12 certificate
• Minimum Graduate Diploma/B-degree with a concentration in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management (Inventory & Warehousing), Business Management
• Minimum 7’years’ experience in Warehouse operations role in a remote mining environment.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory level role.
• Strong communication, organizational skills, strong analytical capabilities, 360-degree sound business sense, advanced documentation skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficient in ERP systems and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and build effective relationships and network.
• Demonstrates strong conceptual skills and be capable of developing lateral practical solutions.
• Valid paid up membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply is a must.

• Excellent analytical and evaluation skills
• Good command of both oral and written communication
• Possession of good leadership skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Good computer skills
• Excellent knowledge of the procurement regulations
