Lafarge Zambia is looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated, and qualified individual to take up the role of Chief Accountant – General Ledger to be based in Chilanga.
Overall Job Purpose
To manage Lafarge Zambia’s general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, reconciliation of accounts and integrity of the chart of accounts. .
Main Responsibilities
• Manage the chart of accounts and guide users on the correct use of the accounts.
• Manage all general interfaces from sub-ledgers to ensure correct and timely posting of batches.
• Manage the manual journal entry process ensuring that all journal entries are correctly coded
and approved in line with delegated authorities.
• Monitor the accounting closing and pre-closing process: define the calendar, communicate closing planning to all the Departments and supervise the implementation.
• Review and ensure accruals and periodic accounting provisions are duly approved and processed.
• Manage the general ledger reconciliation process and ensure that all reconciliations/ constitutions are completed on time every month.
• Review monthly trial balance and ensure general ledger closing is performed in a timely manner.
• Prepare reconciliations audit pack for the auditors before the commencement of statutory audit.
• Ensure both internal and statutory audit information is provided in a timely manner.
• Review inter-company reconciliations.
• Oversee the administration of fixed assets records in line with Group policies and guidelines and local regulations.
• Ensure that all Internal Control Standards linked to Fixed Assets are implemented and the related procedures are effectively complied with.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience/Skills
• Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial accounting.
• Management oriented towards performance and results
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to work across the organization in all business segments.
• Ability to identify and drive continuous process change and improvement
• Very strong organizational and communication skills
• Coaching skills.
• Ability to work under pressure
• Must be a registered member of ZICA.
