JOB DETAILS:
ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
To proficiently operate at least one of the following technologies in SMD; a Protos Cigarette Maker or a GD Cigarette Packer or a KDF Filter Maker and be able to operate at least one other technology as a reliever (e.g., The maker operator should be able to relive the packing operator during meal breaks). He/she should also carry out full range machine production settings & carry out preventive maintenance on the same as outlined in the live process manual document to consistently achieve set quality parameters.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
Professional Responsibilities
• Run and fix the machine (KDF, Protos/GD X500/C600) and to be scheduled in shifts as well as actively participating in Pitstops and maintenance.
• Proficiently operate a Protos Cigarette Maker or a GD Cigarette Packer or a KDF Filter Maker efficiently to achieve agreed production targets while giving the updates on the machine performance and tasks.
• Carry out full range CIL’s, CL’s and DH on at least one of the technologies; making, packing or filter making and also, carry out-preventive maintenance & breakdown maintenance on the same as outlined per process manual.
• Propose and implement new CIL and CL standards
• Continuously monitor product quality and record the data on quality checklists and take corrective measures as and when necessary.
• Report machine running faults and corrective measures taken on machine cards on hourly basis and recommend preventive maintenance, when necessary, by filling in maintenance request forms.
• Check all machine detectors and interlocks by simulation to ensure their proper functioning.
• Monitor and control waste from the machines by making proper machine settings to minimise waste and recovering good quality cigarettes from waste packets.
• Maintain the work environment in a clean and safe state through proper housekeeping and 5S
• Confirm production plan balances at the beginning of the shift and co-ordinate with colleagues/team mates to ensure efficient brand changing and schedule attainment.
• Participate in machine overhauls, relocation and installation of new ones when required as part of development & training process.

Leadership Responsibilities
• Actively participate in all IWS activities and initiatives in order to contribute to the team success by ensuring implementation of actions arising from the meeting.
• Own at least two equipment
• Sets an example of personal excellence by consistently demonstrating behaviours aligned to our Guiding Principles by supporting teamwork and proactively seeking opportunities to develop self and others.
• Consistently demand discipline of self and others to raise standards and deliver stretch results.
• Actively participate in Gap analysis and troubleshooting by using problem solving and improvement tools.
• Step in to support other operators and Trainees to ensure timely and effective resolution of operational challenges.

Team Responsibilities
• Coordinate with other Team members and Technical Executives to ensure smooth start-ups, services restarting after power interruptions and concise hand over between shifts
• Coordinate with other Team members, IWS team leaders, QA inspectors & Shift leads to ensure delivery of quality products on time in full
• Live IWS principles of LEARN, DO, TEACH to develop others
• Encourage idea generation amongst the team by proactively sharing information/learnings and build positively on same.
• Act as a role model for others to gain respect through own behaviour and action.
• Interact and communicate objectively and professionally with customer representatives and other service providers to sustain a relationship of mutual benefit

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• The Job Holder must have at least an Ordinary National Diploma in Engineering
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a factory setting in a similar position in a manufacturing environment.
• Operator with demonstrated Preventive Maintenance skills. In addition, he/she should be able to carry-out gap analysis, troubleshooting and diagnostics on these technologies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively work in a team and communicate with the team members, managers and other stakeholders from other sections/departments.
• Able to work in the IWS environment
• Able to make the decision to stop the machine in case of excessive waste generation, poor quality, and imminent breakdown, and when it is unsafe to run.
• Ability to carry out a brand change when the schedule requirement for the running brand is met.
• Knowledge and ability to reject materials that do not conform to specifications and/or quality parameters
