JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Climate Modeler to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, running, and analyzing climate models to understand and predict climate patterns and impacts. This role involves working with complex data sets, creating simulations, and providing actionable insights to inform climate-related decisions and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Climate Modeling and Simulation:
• Develop and refine climate models to simulate climate systems and predict future climate scenarios.
• Utilize state-of-the-art modeling tools and techniques to run simulations and analyze results.
• Integrate data from various sources, including observational data, satellite data, and climate projections, into models.
2. Data Analysis and Interpretation:
• Analyze and interpret climate model outputs, including temperature, precipitation, and other climate variables.
• Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in model data and provide insights into potential climate impacts.
• Validate model predictions against real-world observations and adjust models as necessary.
3. Research and Development:
• Conduct research to improve climate modeling techniques and incorporate new scientific findings into models.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in climate science, modeling methodologies, and technologies.
• Publish research findings in scientific journals and present results at conferences and meetings.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders, to provide climate modeling support.
• Communicate complex model results and implications to non-specialist audiences in a clear and accessible manner.
• Collaborate with external organizations, research institutions, and government agencies on climate modeling projects.
5. Tool and Software Management:
• Manage and maintain climate modeling software and tools, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning effectively.
• Develop and implement scripts, algorithms, and data processing workflows to enhance modeling efficiency.
6. Scenario Planning and Impact Assessment:
• Conduct scenario analyses to assess the potential impacts of different climate scenarios on various sectors, including agriculture, water resources, and urban planning.
• Provide recommendations for adaptation and mitigation strategies based on model outcomes.
7. Project Management:
• Oversee and manage climate modeling projects, including planning, execution, and reporting.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure milestones are met and deliverables are produced on time.

Qualifications:
Education: Master’s or PhD in Climate Science, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in climate modeling, data analysis, and simulation. Experience with climate model development and validation is highly desirable.

Skills:
• Strong proficiency in climate modeling software and tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R, or similar).
• Experience with climate models such as General Circulation Models (GCMs) or Earth System Models (ESMs).
• Solid understanding of climate science, atmospheric processes, and environmental data.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and model outputs.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-specialists.
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and manage projects effectively.

Certifications:
• Relevant certifications in climate science, data analysis, or modeling are advantageous.
Work Conditions:
• Office-based work with occasional fieldwork or travel for data collection and collaboration.
• May involve irregular hours to meet project deadlines or respond to urgent modeling needs.
