Program Background:
CHAI under the guidance of the Ministry of Health in partnership with the University of Witwatersrand’s Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office ((HE2RO) and Boston Universit’s School of Public Health, with support from the Gates Foundation has been working on research on research for models of care in the first six months of HIV treatment (Retain6). Retain6 is a two-country study in South Africa and Zambia with the aim of applying the principles of patient-centered design to inform recommendations for differentiated models of care for patients in the first six months of ART. Retain6 synthesizes existing data at the patient, facility, partner, and national levels and collects primary data from healthcare facilities and national electronic medical record systems with the intention of generating recommendations for policy change to improve the early treatment period.
Working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, CHAI through the Retain6 project is conducting the Advanced HIV Diseases (AHD) Zambia Study to better understand who is presenting with advanced HIV disease in Zambia, how they are currently managed, and their treatment outcomes after starting ART.
CHAI is seeking for qualified and experienced candidates take up the position of data collectors, to work on consultancy basis for a period 3 months (April – June 2025), for the AHD Zambia study.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct surveys and interviews with recipients of care as per study protocol
2. Conduct surveys and interviews with health care providers as per study protocol
3. Acquire consent and files consent forms correctly
4. Collect and compile data from study sites
5. Transcribe qualitative data as guided by the project staff
6. Provide routine updates on data collection progress and challenges at the study sites
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, social science, business or related field is required.
2. At least two years’ experience in HIV health program data collection and record-keeping
3. Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection (at least two studies)
4. Computer literate and proficiency in MS office packages with intermediary skills in excel, and experience using data collection tools including survey CTO.
5. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
6. Self-motivated, able to work independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team
7. Ability to speak the common languages in Central, Copperbelt, Lusaka, and Southern Provinces (Chinyanja, Bemba and Tonga) is a must.
This data collector recruitment is for local positions residing in Chongwe, Kafue, and Lusaka districts of Lusaka Province; Chisamba, Kabwe, Kapiri Mposhi, and Mumbwa districts of Central Province; Kitwe, Ndola, and Mpongwe districts of Copperbelt Province, and; Choma, Livingstone and Mazabuka districts of Southern Province.
