Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
To assist the Electrical Coordinator / Specialist with supervising of high voltage switching,
trailing cable repairs, skid transformer, switch gear repair, maintenance, trolley assist line
construction maintenance and repairs, dewatering infrastructure construction maintenance and
repairs, workshop repairs and maintenance, statutory checks and compliance.

Specific Job Responsibility
• Lead and manage a team of electricians to ensure outputs and KPI’s are achieved
• Ensuring that all maintenance is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, to ensure maximum reliability and uptime.
• Meeting set work targets for daily work group activities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Achieving results through prioritizing activities, monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding self-accountable for the results.
• Motivate yourself and others in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals.
• Planning & assisting in laying out of work on new projects.
• Ensuring maximum mobile/fixed plant availability at all times
• A proven ability to work with other disciplines to achieve minimal disruption to plant operating times
• Ensuring to handout job cards for all work perform on time, also to ensure job cards have been returned, correctly filled in and entered into the Proto system to ensure the capturing of data and not to lose the information on job cards.
• No Job Card No work attitude.
• Ensure statuary logbooks have been completed correctly.
• Vehicle checklist have been completed.
• Ensure Vehicles are cleaned on every shift before handing it over to the next shift.
• Ensure all tools are clean and returned on every shift.
• Housekeeping in and around electrical infrastructure mining workshops.
• Complete on INX a minimum of 1 x PTO per week / shift.
• Drive electricians to complete, handing in Hazards and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Create PTO’S and SOP’S for electrical task and electrical equipment inside your area of responsibility.
As the Electrical Supervisor in the mining infrastructure department in Zambia you play a
vital role in overseeing electrical operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency in all
electrical work. Here’s a detailed description of the key tasks expected to be performed in this
role:
1. Team Leadership and Supervision
• Supervise Electrical Teams: Lead and manage a team of electricians and technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring adherence to project schedules.
• Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to team members on electrical systems, safety practices, and operational procedures.
2. Project Oversight
• Monitor Electrical Work: Oversee all electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, ensuring they meet project specifications and timelines.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of electrical work to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements.
3. Safety Management
• Enforce Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce safety procedures and policies related to electrical work to protect personnel and equipment.
• Conduct Safety Meetings: Organize and lead safety meetings to address potential hazards and ensure team awareness of safety practices.
4. Planning and Coordination
• Work Scheduling: Develop and manage work schedules for electrical teams, coordinating with other departments to minimize downtime.
• Resource Allocation: Ensure adequate resources, including materials and tools, are available for electrical work.
5. Troubleshooting and Maintenance
• Identify Issues: Diagnose electrical problems and provide effective solutions to ensure the continued operation of electrical systems and equipment.
• Maintenance Oversight: Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring they are performed correctly and on time.
6. Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of electrical work performed, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety standards.
• Report Preparation: Prepare regular reports on team performance, project progress, and any incidents or safety concerns.
7. Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work adheres to local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Inspection Preparation: Prepare for inspections by regulatory bodies, ensuring all documentation and installations are in order.
8. Communication and Coordination
• Liaison with Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding project status and electrical issues.
• Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise during electrical operations.
9. Continuous Improvement
• Evaluate Processes: Assess current electrical practices and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Stay Updated: Keep informed about new technologies, tools, and best practices in electrical engineering and mining operations.
10. Emergency Response
• Develop Response Plans: Assist in creating emergency response plans for electrical incidents and ensure all team members are familiar with them.
• Emergency Drills: Participate in emergency response drills to ensure preparedness for electrical-related emergencies.

As the Electrical Supervisor you are essential for managing electrical operations within the
mining infrastructure department in Zambia, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This role
requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-
solving and compliance, making it critical for the success of electrical projects in the mining
sector.

• Proven experience with Electrical preventative maintenance with a focus on HV switching, Skid substations maintenance / repairs, power lines, trailing cable repairs, cable handling and assisting in Trolley lines, unplanned repair & installation tasks on plant equipment.

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• HV switching Authorization
• Valid Zambian driver’s license
• Must be Computer Literate
• EIZ certificate
• All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
