1. MINING GRADUATE TRAINEE x 1 KALUMBILA ENTERPRISE SITE
Position Description
• This position reports to the Mining Engineer. Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.
Role Summary:
• Kascco is looking for a recent Graduate Trainee who is interested in enhancing their skills and gaining practical experience in the Mining Engineering field. The successful candidate will undergo an exciting Graduate Trainee Program.
• The position of a Graduate Trainee is to support Mining Engineers and Kascco Limited at Large in Managing Mining Operations, create estimates for Mining Projects, Design Mine Sites and Assist with Mining Equipment selection implementation and initiate work activities.
• The Graduate Trainee will adhere to the HSE rules and Regulations as set by Kascco Management and FQML for the purpose of protecting the Safety and Health of its Employees, damage to Property and protection to the environment. These position therefore, is not bound, or limited to key performance areas listed here under:
Safety Responsibilities:
• Support an effective Health and Safety Management System, including completion of hazard identification, toolbox talks and completion of JSA where appropriate
• Inspection of work areas to ensure that the required safety and operational standards for site are met and take appropriate action when required.
• Ensuring that speed limits and road signs in place are observed to reduce the risk, and that all reasonable measures are implemented to avoid accidents.
• Ensuring that near misses, hazards, accidents and unsafe acts and conditions are brought to the attention of a supervisor in charge of the area.
Graduate Trainee Responsibilities:
• Learn and apply Mining Engineering Principles and concepts to Company Operations.
• Assist with the planning and designing of Mining Operations.
• Assist with the development and improvement of Mining processes.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve Company goals.
• Complete all assigned tasks and projects within the given timeframe.
Qualification and Experience:
• Must be a Zambian citizen.
• Knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment.
• Grade 12 certificate.
• Degree in Mining Engineering or any other related field.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a Team.
• Must obtain a Zambian Blasting Licence and First Aid Certificate in the first 6 months of training.
• A valid Driving License will be added an advantage.
2. PROJECT MINING ENGINEER x 1 KALUMBILA ENTERPRISE SITE
Position Description
This position reports to the Technical Superintendent. Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.
Responsibilities
• Tender preparation and pricing of project works.
• Ensuring that mining projects within the division are properly planned, budgeted for, and implemented within the budgeted costs, time, and quality.
• Providing technical support to the production team in achieving efficient production in a proactive manner
• Scheduling mining, Ancillary Equipment, and labor to achieve production and safety targets.
• Ensuring all mining works are executed to design and within the scope of works.
• Monitoring and recommending action plans to ensure consistent improvement in production.
• Daily costing and settling realistic production targets for the Supervision team.
• Daily reports on Equipment availability and utilizations.
• Participate in safety and environmental planned inspection, risk assessments, safety audits, critical and planned task observation.
• Coordinate the formulation of safe working procedures (SWP).
• Coordinate the Pit Operations and construction team on site.
• Carry out production date analysis and setting out of Mine Plans
• Ensuring mine haul roads and ramps are of standard width and grade etc.
• Coordinate open Pit mine development including stripping of overburden with adhere to spatial compliance.
• Ensuring effective and efficient utilization of all mining equipment.
• Supervision of Open Pit Quantities (End of Month Volumes)
• Preparation and presentation of month end report to the client
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
• Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized university.
• At least 5 years of experience in the role or related position.
• Knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment.
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Drill and blast knowledge
• Load and haul operations
• Mine planning
• Geology and Survey
• Mining Contract Administration
• Dispatch
• Mining project management knowledge and experience an added advantage.
• Extensive skills in the Design and Scheduling softwares (Deswik, Vulcan 3D, Surpac and Mine-Shed
