Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Superintendent – Projects to join the versatile Engineering Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Capital and Projects Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the business so as to deliver Projects from initial scoping through to Practical Completion that support the operations to achieve production targets safely at lowest life cycle cost and effective Management support to the Engineering Manager and the Lumwana Management Team.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Develop engineering standards, specifications, and procedures relevant for critical plant and equipment incorporating legislative, OEM, Barrick and country engineering requirements.
• Project verification controls are in place and effective, and, that gap closure plans are in place.
• Management of an ongoing site project pipeline including the budgeting for these projects.
• Development and ownership of equipment management of change registers
• Management of change compliance
• Verification controls are in place and effective, and that change actions are completed to plan
• EIZ / ERB registration for site persons
• Legislative requirements are placed into equipment strategies and entered into the CMMS.
• Ensuring that the costs associated with all projects are forecast and updated along with delivery of all required deliverables prior to practical completion and final payments.
• Ensuring all required documentation is captured including “as built” drawings where required.
• Robust engineering support for execution and planning / reliability teams
• Interface with project delivery providers on high level technical and commercial matters
• Undertaking post-investment reviews on all delivered projects.
• Deliver reports to the Department Manager on agreed performance indicators and to agreed standards and schedule.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years mining experience focused mobile equipment and fixed plant, with 5 years at similar level or higher
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
• Hold a valid Zambian driver’s licence.
• Minimum 10 years mining experience focused on either mobile fleet or fixed plant.
• Demonstrated experience in large multi pit operations utilising large-scale mining and processing equipment from an engineering, construction, compliance, and life cycle costing perspective.
• Demonstrated competence in engineering design and project management of capital projects.
• Demonstrated competence in managing the engineering requirements for operating and maintaining the sites critical plant and equipment within design limits.
• Has strong proficiency in the use of CMMS Systems (e.g., Pronto), MS Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
