JOB DETAILS:
The successful candidate will be part of the Legal Department and will be based in Lusaka and will report to the Head Legal and Company Secretary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in managing legal cases for and against the Company and attend to litigation matters when required.
2. Negotiating (where necessary) out of court settlements for court cases by and against the Company.
3. Provide the business with basic legal advice relating to credit risk, collections processes, and dispute resolution.
4. Collaborate with internal and external teams to optimize debt recovery efforts and support the business with issuance of correspondence on overdue payments in accordance with the Company’s debt recovery policies.
5. Assisting the Head Legal/Company Secretary in the preparation of legal reports and status on litigations by and against the company.
6. Preparation of conveyancing and collateral perfection documentation
7. Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts/agreements and any other legal documents relating to and for the Company and ensure they align with regulatory standards, business standards and company policies.
8. Attending to all matters of a legal nature concerning the Company as directed by the Head Legal /Company Secretary.
9. Assist in providing legal advice and legal opinions to Management on any matter relating to the Company.
10. Assisting the compliance manager with identifying, prioritizing, and assigning accountability for managing potential threats related to regulatory or policy non-compliance- or ethical misconduct- that could lead to fines or penalties, reputational damage.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor of Laws Degree
• Advocate of the High Court of Zambia with a valid practicing license.
• A minimum of two (2) years’ post Bar admission experience primarily in litigation.
• Proven experience in drafting legal documents including court filings.
• Proven experience in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements and contracts.
• Familiarity with courtroom procedures and legal compliance processes is essential.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a team player and willing to work with less supervision and tight deadlines.
