CONSULTANT
Agova Zambia Ltd.
Location: Lusaka
Contract Length: 2 years
Remuneration: Range from ZMW 12,000 to k18,000 gross per month (excl. 25% gratuity)
Background:
Agova is an impact-driven consultancy that finds business value in addressing social challenges. Since 2014, Agova has been delivering management and technical advice to actors in the business sector in Zambia to develop business models and norms that increase economic, social and environmental prosperity. We aim to leverage capital, data and innovative ideas to develop a sustainable form of poverty reduction; one that focuses on creating win-win, or ‘shared value’, business models within our client organisations such that commercial imperatives can be whilst improving the livelihoods of their low-income customer and supplier segments. Agova has been registered in Zambia since August 2014 and has been a venture supported by Engineers without Borders since 2011. .
Job Description:
• Develop various training modules for soft skill development as well as other
• potential hard skill development according to Agova requirements;
• Implementing and facilitating participatory and interactive trainings targeted at
• private sector/NGO staff, SMEs or micro-enterprises ;
• Implementing other forms of skill building sessions: coaching sessions, internal
• skill building sessions targeted at internal Agova staff, doing workshops to
• improve processes, etc.;
• Providing line management and support to Agova Junior Consultants if
• applicable;
• Managing and coordinating Agova’s team of experts who will be supporting the
• delivery of trainings on an ad hoc basis;
• Possibility of extensive field travel;
• Ad hoc business development tasks like attending networking events, sourcing
• new business opportunities, writing proposals for new potential clients, support
• recruitment of new clients, developing new client contracts etc.
• Support to the implementation of capturing Agova’s shared value impact through
• applying a measurement framework;
• Other tasks as required by Agova;
Required Skills:
• A relevant four-year Bachelor’s degree (ideally a Master’s Degree);
• Three to five years of relevant work experience, ideally in the private sector;
• Experience with curriculum development and/or training materials with a focus on
• soft skills training and business development modules: team management &
• team building, conflict resolution, performance management, improved
• productivity, market research, customer experience, sales/marketing, etc..;
• Experience delivering trainings to a high-standard, ideally to the private sector, to
• SMEs and micro-enterprises in the agricultural sector;
• Experience managing multiple staff and multiple projects at once, within strict
• timelines and under ‘high-pressure’ environments;
• Interest in Shared Value (SME businesses solving social/environmental
• challenges by reshaping their business strategy);
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Leadership experience and demonstrated ability to take initiative;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Ability to design and implement work plans, within set timelines;
• Demonstrated ability to be proactive, use own initiative, work independently and
• solve problems;
• High-level of computer literacy with a solid command of MS Excel, Word,
• PowerPoint and email;
• Ability to set up and implement performance management processes, to ensure
• the setup of a high-performing team;
• Ability to travel around Lusaka/Zambia (NOTE: extensive travel may be required);
• Fluency in local language, both Nyanja and Bemba; and
• An M&E background is an added advantage.
