The key purpose of this role is to provide specialized mechanical artisan skill and knowledge to the shift team, and to support the operation and maintenance of the Packaging Hall and to perform and assist in problem solving
Key Outputs and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the shift-based teams during operations.
- Attends packaging daily meetings and ensures that the previous day’s actions have been actioned.
- Assist shift-based teams with situational problem solving.
- Coach the shift-based teams on machine operation, machine fault finding and correct responses to machine failure modes.
- Carry out work during the planned maintenance window in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule issued by the planner.
- Where scheduled work cannot be completed, feed back to the maintenance planner for direction. This may involve rescheduling the work or prioritizing outstanding work.
- Assist fellow team members in the execution of their tasks during planned maintenance windows.
- Locate plant, equipment, spares and relevant documentation and/or systems
- Plan and prepare the job and Carry out repairs/maintenance as well as Operate Packaging equipment
- Partake in cleaning, lubrication and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule issued by the maintenance planner.
- Carry out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
- Where problems have been uncovered during routine maintenance, these must be resolved using the appropriate problem-solving techniques.
- Maintain and repair plant and associated devices
- Communicate effectively in teams, Contribute to self and team development and Carry out running repairs on plant and equipment.
- When carrying out repairs, assess the problem and determine a course of action.
- Where running repairs cannot be carried out, communicates this to the team leader and maintenance planner to ensure the work is planned into the next planned maintenance window.
- Apply the correct problem-solving methodologies to resolve problems and Assist and coach operators on situational problem solving.
- Comply with safe, health and environmental procedures and legislation
- Maintain safety and housekeeping standards, Identification of unsafe practices through Standard Inspection Operations and Safety inspections conducted
- Safe maintenance practices audited
- Adherence to PPE policies
- Maintenance tools are in good working order
Key Attributes and Competencies:
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to solve problems on packaging process line PET machines.
- Technical Communication: Ability to communicate technical knowledge to operation staff, improving their skill sets.
- Training and Mentoring: Ability to train, coach, and mentor operation staff on ATO (Autonomous Operations) and 5S principles.
- Optimization and Waste Reduction: Ability to optimize usages and reduce wastage with permanent solutions.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
- Diploma/Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
- 2-5 years as a Mechanical Artisan preferably on the similar industry (FMCGs) Packaging PET line.
