Background
African Parks (AP) is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on responsibility for the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. AP manages 23 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Job Overview
To provide support to the Park Maintenance Supervisor in ensuring Liuwa Plain National Park applies the highest standards in general Maintenance in order to facilitate the implementation of the Conservation Strategy.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Read, interpret and comply with welding plans and technical specifications
• Preparation, degreasing and stripping of parts to be welded
• Cutting metal materials
• Weld and adjust the different metal structures
• Ensure the manufacture of protective grids for buildings
• Ensure the manufacture of metal frames
• Provide support for dent removal work
• Manufacture and decorate metal panels with visibilities
• Cleaning, control and polishing of the weld.
• Check the condition of the electrical installations of electrical equipment (welding station, stabilizers, etc.)
• Ensure the safety of work equipment and materials
• Ensure their safety by wearing protective equipment (Gloves, Glasses, Safety Shoes etc.)
• Perform other tasks requested by the hierarchy.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Competence in the use of manual welders
• Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals and materials to be welded (aluminum, steel, copper, etc.)
• Knowledge of different welding procedures
• Ability to use calibres, micrometers, comparators and other measuring instruments
• Competence in reading technical drawings
• Excellent manual capabilities
• Accuracy and reliability
• Physical resistance
• Knowledge of accident prevention and occupational safety standards
Other skills:
• Rigorous, organized and responsive.

• Very good physical strength and endurance
