JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
To provide medical treatment and preventative health services to patients to ensure the delivery of quality HIV/TB services in all supported sites.
Reports to: Medical Superintendent
Main Responsibilities:
i. Responsible for screening, care, treatment, and follow-up of all ART clients;
ii. Lead the facility service delivery team in improving ongoing clinical care for
patients receiving treatment for Opportunistic Infection (OI’s), TB, HIV, and PMTCT as well as preoperative and post-operative care for VMMC clients;
iii. Lead the service delivery teams at facility and community levels to increase and improve access to care, case identification, and retention in care as well as improvement in treatment outcomes including viral load suppression;
iv. Actively participate in all weekly GSM and ECHO sessions and ensure that case presentations are done;
v. Ensure accurate management of clinical records both hard copies and electronic records to improve clinical performance;
vi. Maintain close observation and make recommendations to LPHO management regarding more effective and organized handling of specific programs;
vii. Actively participate in TB/HIV research including identification and documentation of evidence-based best practices;
viii. Provide technical support to health facilities with low Proficiency Testing (PT) results and assist sites to develop remediation measures;
ix. Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly as well as annual and ad-hoc reports as required using the recommended format; and
x. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills and Experience
• Zambian national with a Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5) Credits or better including Mathematics, Science, and English.
• Individuals should be between 30 and 55 years.
• Degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
• Foreign-trained applicants should attach a certificate from Zambia Qualifications Authority.
• At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in TB and HIV control activities, supervisory experience at a health facility or District level in PEPFAR-supported projects.
• Training in TB/HIV, HIV management for both adults and pediatrics
• Training in PMTCT and Adolescent Health
• Training in SmartCare OR related Electronic Medical Records system
• Registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia with a valid practicing license and full registration;
• Computer literate, with high competency in using Microsoft Office applications;
• Must have a strong understanding of the reporting hierarchy at all levels of health care; and
• Good proficiency in oral and written English as well as interpersonal skills
