JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
The role is focused on ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors, service providers, and statutory bodies. Key responsibilities include expenditure tracking, invoice reconciliation, maintenance of precise transaction records in Pastel, and the preparation of expenditure-related journal entries. The position also involves developing and implementing procedures to optimize financial efficiency and reporting.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Review and verify invoices and payment requests, including researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments through internet banking.
• Record and post expenditures into Pastel daily.
• Determine monthly expenditure forecasts and perform reconciliation of vendor accounts.
• Ensure timely payment of statutory obligations such as ZRA, NAPSA, WCFCB, and NHIMA.
• Accrue projected expenditures and post relevant journals in Pastel, including PAYE, NAPSA, WCFCB, and NHIMA.
• Generate monthly and quarterly expenditure reports for management.
• Conduct quarterly variance analysis and propose budget revisions if necessary.
• Reconcile all accounts payable monthly, including gratuity and leave day provisions.
• Assist in financial audits and implement audit recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with organizational accounting standards and guidelines.
• Utilize the Pastel software application for accounting operations.
• Attend to any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or full ACCA, CIMA, CA certification.
Experience:
• At least 3 years’ experience in payable function.
• Extensive experience with Pastel is mandatory.
• Must be a ZICA member (valid membership license)
