JOB DETAILS:
Prime Impala Resources seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID Zambia Agriculture Diversification Support Activity (ZADS) opportunity. This activity aims to contribute to transforming Zambia’s agricultural sector into an efficient, equitable, and sustainable producer of high quality and nutritious food for consumption, sale, and trade. This transition will foster growth in Zambia’s agricultural sector and enhance resilience to climate shocks while improving the market competitiveness of the targeted agricultural commodities and increasing the consumption of nutritious foods at the household level.

The three outcomes of the activity are:
Outcome 1: Increase agricultural yields and diversified food production among small agribusinesses;
Outcome 2: Enhance market systems through robust private sector engagement and strengthened value chains of selected agricultural commodities from producers; and
Outcome 3: Enhance dietary diversity and improve food security.
The COP will be the point of contact with the USAID Contracts Officer Representative (COR), facilitating communication and close coordination with all stakeholders. The COP is accountable for project management, technical oversight, stakeholder engagement, and compliance. The COP directly manages other key personnel and ensures they have the resources and oversight to perform effectively.

The key responsibilities include:
• Provide overall vision, management, and strategic leadership to the project;
• Lead the development and draft annual work plans aligned with Activity Outcomes;
• Lead the development of other deliverables and reporting to USAID;
• Identify adjustments in scope and operations to ensure that the project adapts to changes in need and context;
• Supervise and empower all personnel;
• Establish effective partnerships with other U.S. government agencies, Zambian partners, development partners, non-governmental organizations, and a wide variety of other stakeholders;
• Effectively communicate in large public settings and with senior government officials; and

The COP minimum required qualifications:
• Graduate degree in agriculture, agriculture economics, business management, or other relevant field;
• Minimum ten years’ experience (five at the senior management level) implementing agriculture value chain projects in Southern/East Africa;
• Minimum of five years leading development project design, implementation, and/or monitoring and evaluation;
• Minimum of five years of experience with direct responsibility for substantive budget oversight and financial reporting;
• Familiarity with USAID rules and regulations, compliance, reporting requirements, and grant management;
