JOB DETAILS:
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Cranes Operator to join the versatile Maintenance Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Cranes and Lifting – Supervisor, you will be responsible to execute all rigging services to production and maintenance departments and ensure adherence to statutory compliance and LMC Lifting policies. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Responsible for all inspections of the crane and ensure it is safe before operating the equipment
• Responsible to operate the crane to lift and move materials and other objects according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Plan all lifts and take complete charge of all safety pertaining the set up and derigging of the crane.
• Respond accordingly to both hand and verbal signals from rigger and helpers
• Observe load safety and determine crane capacity by using load charts.
• Assist in general and routine maintenance and service of cranes, including cleaning of the cranes
• Follow all company policies and procedures and perform other tasks as assigned or requested by the supervisor
• Be able to effectively work with other team members and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ensure that a lift plan, JSA and all required documents are available for every lift
• Be courageous to stop any unsafe task.
• Be able to identify safe slinging techniques in order to safely lift and lower a load

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Possess a Grade Twelve Certificate
• Crane Operators license.
• Significant experience (4 years) as a crane operator.
• Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment such as fixed and mobile cranes.
• Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Zambian driver’s license or be able to obtain one.
• Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture.
