JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Credit Manager will oversee the credit management process, including assessing creditworthiness, setting credit limits, and minimizing bad debts. Take charge of credit proposal analysis and the enforcement of credit policies and regulatory guidelines. Play a crucial role in safeguarding the company’s financial interests while maintaining positive relationships with clients and customers. Ensuring timely payments, minimizing credit risk, and maximizing cash flow. Oversee the evaluation and review of loan and credit applications and collateral and make recommendations
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement credit policies and procedures.
• Oversee the reviewing credit applications and conduct credit checks.
• Analyze financial data to evaluate credit risk.
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities of a credit department in an industrial or commercial organization
• Administer corporate, commercial and personal loan accounts
• Advise customers on the commercial and personal financial services corresponding to their needs
• Approve or reject credit applications, establish credit limits and determine repayment plans or schedules in accordance with authorized limits.
• Ensure collection of overdue or delinquent accounts
• Ensure credit policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and applicable legislation
• Prepare credit and loan reports
• Assess the creditworthiness of potential customers and clients
• Set and enforce credit limits based on risk assessment.
• Monitor and manage overdue accounts to minimize bad debts.
• Negotiate payment terms and conditions with clients.
• Provide recommendations for credit approvals or rejections
• Maintain accurate records of credit transactions and collections.
• Collaborate with sales and finance teams to optimize credit processes.
• Take the lead in the recruitment of credit officers and identify their training needs.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
• Must have a minimum of 5+ Years of experience in credit origination, appraisal and approval in a Commercial Bank
• Ability to develop and implement credit policies and procedures
• Must be well vested with the Credit process from Branch level up to approval stage
• Proven experience in credit management or a similar role.
• Excellent knowledge of the Banking and Financial Services Act and other regulations governing commercial bank lending activities.
• Familiarity with credit risk assessment techniques and financial analysis.
• Must be a Certified Credit Professional (CCP)
