As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and engineering, of products and services, for manufacturing and sales. You will facilitate data collection from customer sites and incorporate it into designs/services and bring back market ideas. You will maintain design knowledge of all Mineral Processing products under the direction of the Engineering Manager.
As a liaison between the manufacturing and engineering teams and the sales and marketing forces, your role will involve collaborating with all these teams to meet the expectations and framework set by the Product and Engineering Manager. You will be expected to provide consultation on the choice of techniques, timing, and follow-up to ensure that the products developed meet the needs of the market.
In addition to collaborating with other teams, you will also be responsible for performing design and engineering tasks for the development of new products and modification of existing ones. This will include tasks such as solid modelling, detailed drafting, analysis and simulation, site-based reverse engineering, and other technical requirements as needed.
To excel in this role, you will need to have great attention to detail and be committed to ongoing process improvements. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal and external standards and procedures, adhering to applicable Australian and international quality and manufacturing standards. This will include tasks such as document control, safety training, auditing, quality and performance monitoring, and design techniques. By staying on top of these tasks, you will help ensure that the products developed meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
This role will be based in Kitwe, Zambia, or Johannesburg, South Africa.
This role would require travel to client sites once every month.

Key Selection Criteria
• Tertiary degree in Engineering
• High level of proficiency in CAD including 3D modelling and 2D drafting preferably with Siemens NX or a similar package
• Knowledge of mineral processing & material handling equipment and processes
• Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) – desirable
• Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) – Professional Engineer – desirable
