Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main purpose of job:
Reporting to the Transport Coordinator, the post holder will perform driving and related transport duties, including assisting with various logistics and protocol tasks.
Roles and responsibilities
The precise range of duties will vary according to the requirements of the High Commission. Some out-of-hours work can be expected - including multi-day driving tasks outside Lusaka. This role will include, but may not be limited to the following activities:
• Drive the High Commissioner to official engagements, transport staff to meetings, official functions, and airport runs.
• Occasional longer driving assignments outside of Lusaka, including advising on route planning and other logistical aspects of assignments.
• Mail deliveries to Government Ministries, other High Commissions and Embassies and other partners.
• Facilitate immigration and customs protocols when required, liaising with officials, and taking vehicles (official and private) for the relevant vehicle inspections.
• Ensure that assigned vehicles comply with the minimum operating security standards, (MOSS) e.g. mandatory vehicle checks etc.
• Ensure up-country and vehicle medical kits are up to date and other accessories are in order and available in each vehicle.
• Ensure that all passengers/users are adhering to safety requirements and other BHC regulations.
• Assist with the delivery/collection of vehicles for repairs to the relevant garage.
• Perform other administrative duties as required.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
• Corporate Credit Card spend reconciliation for all costs incurred on official travel.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
• Clean and valid driving licence.
• 3 years minimum professional driving experience with proven safety record.
• Effective communication and people skills
• A flexible attitude, good judgement, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
• Basic computer skills e.g. using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, and local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills.
• Professional appearance and punctuality (representational attire will be provided)
