Skills to Live Zambia is a locally registered organization affiliated with Young Africa International and is dedicated to empowering vulnerable youth with skills training for employability and entrepreneurship. Our program integrates vocational training with life skills education, digital literacy, entrepreneurship training, psychosocial support services, and talent development in art and sports. By equipping young people with these essential skills, we ensure they are work-ready, self-reliant, and able to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.
POSITION SUMMARY
Skills to Live Zambia is seeking a proactive and results-driven Employment Officer (EO) to facilitate job placements, internships, and employment opportunities for graduates of our TVET programs. The EO will play a key role in engaging employers, developing industry partnerships, and ensuring that students secure gainful employment. This position requires strong networking, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a passion for youth empowerment and economic development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses, industries, and organizations to secure internships and job opportunities for graduates.
Provide career guidance, including CV writing, interview coaching, and job search strategies.
Organize workplace visits, career fairs, and networking events to expose students to various career pathways.
Coordinate and monitor student internships, ensuring smooth integration into workplaces.
Track and report employment outcomes, making data-driven improvements to job placement programs.
Implement strategies to enhance employability, including soft skills and work-readiness training.
Support graduates with employment contract negotiations, workplace adaptation, and career growth.
Work with trainers and industry experts to align TVET programs with labor market demands.
Promote self-employment by connecting youth to entrepreneurship support services, funding opportunities, and business networks.
Collaborate with the monitoring and evaluation team to maintain accurate employment records and impact assessments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Community Development, or a related field.
At least three (3) years of experience in youth employment programs, career development, and TVET
Strong understanding of labor market trends, work readiness programs, and youth empowerment strategies.
Proven ability to network and build partnerships with employers and industry stakeholders.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and digital marketing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing databases and reports.
Class B driver’s license is required.
Experience in Human resources work is an added advantage
Membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) is an added advantage.
