JOB DETAILS:
Company Overview: Afriseed is one of the leading agricultural seed companies committed to providing high-quality seeds and innovative solutions to farmers. As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced “Environmental Management Specialist”. The position will be for a period of Six (6) months.

Key responsibilities include:
The tasks and responsibilities of the Environmental Management Specialist will include but not be limited to the following;
• Ensure that all project activities and operations comply with relevant environmental regulations and laws. This involves staying updated on new regulations and ensuring that the organization meets or exceeds environmental standards and liaison with regulators to achieve and sustain environmental compliance
• Conduct an environmental impact assessment (EIA) or environmental project brief (EPB) to identify environmental aspects and determine the potential environmental impact of the proposed project.
• Implement monitoring programs to track environmental indicators and identify any changes or trends that may require action.
• Develop and implement strategies to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability during the project development and implementation.
• Carry out risk assessment and management for potential environmental risks and develop plans to mitigate or manage them effectively.
• Provide environmental awareness training to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders on environmental issues, regulations, and best practices.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to address environmental challenges and achieve shared goals.
• Assist in the development of environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines to guide decision-making and ensure consistency in the environmental management practices of the organization.
• Prepare project reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate environmental performance, compliance status, and progress toward sustainability goals

Minimum qualifications and Experience:
• 10 years of work experience in Environmental management and at least 8 years at the management level.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or equivalent from a reputable university
• A Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent from a reputable university preferred.
• Must be a registered Environmental Consultant with Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) and/or any other subscription as required by law.
• Should be certified in ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Lead Auditing, Internal Auditing and Implementation.
