Job Purpose
The Estates Coordinator will support the Head of CSR in delivering the Estates Strategy and ensuring the effective management of estates for Maamba Energy. The role involves overseeing estate operations and ensuring that Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and premises management comply with relevant legislation.
The job holder will report to the Head of CSR.
Key Responsibilities
Estates Management
• Ensure there is no encroachment in the mining lease areas.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all operational premises matters, providing guidance and expert advice.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with site personnel.
• Support MEL in creating and maintaining site development plans, planned maintenance schedules, and decoration programs to ensure buildings are maintained to a high standard.
• Schedule and ensure timely completion of audits and necessary remedial actions.
• Liaise with contractors and consultants for major building projects.
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of estate management software.
• Attend contract management meetings and perform audit inspections for soft services as required.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
• Assist in building relationships with the community to implement and coordinate a range of activities for CSR to build and maintain the company image.
• Assist in raising public awareness of a company’s social responsibility commitments in coordination with marketing and PR efforts.
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s ethical strategies.
• Ensuring that the company operates in a manner that is socially responsible.
• Managing stakeholder relationships.
• Monitoring the effectiveness of CSR initiatives.
• Handling community relations and corporate citizenship programmes.
Budget Management
• Prepare and manage the estate’s budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
• Monitor expenses and ensure all financial activities are within the allocated budget.
• Provide regular financial reports to the Head of CSR.
Contract Management
• Manage contracts with external service providers, including maintenance, cleaning, and security services.
• Ensure all contracted services are delivered to a high standard and in compliance with agreements.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of contractors.
Qualifications
a) Education
• Bachelor’s degree or university education in Real Estate Management, Urban Planning, and/or Business Management.
b) Experience
• Proven experience in estate or facilities management, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
• 10–15 years’ experience in estate/CSR management in a mining environment.
• Experience of working effectively without supervision while retaining focus and strong time management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of the CSR team.
• Health & Safety management related to premises.
• Processing land acquisition.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
• Knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Proficiency in budget management and operational planning.
• Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of sustainable practices in estate management.
• Proficiency in using estate management software and tools.
