Job Summary:
The Head of Commercial drives revenue growth, customer acquisition, and strategic partnerships across all Lupiya business verticals—Lupiya Pay (digital payments), Lupiya Invest (P2P investment platform), and lending operations. This role also plays a critical role in market expansion (Tanzania, Malawi, and beyond).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Revenue Growth & Commercial Strategy
· Develop and execute a data-driven commercial strategy for Lupiya Pay, Lupiya Invest, and lending products.
· Drive revenue growth by expanding B2B, B2C, and institutional customer acquisition strategies.
· Optimize customer segmentation, pricing models, and go-to-market strategies.
2. Lupiya Pay – Digital Payments & Merchant Strategy
· Oversee merchant acquisition and partnerships with Visa, Mastercard, mobile wallets, and fintech aggregators.
· Develop merchant onboarding and retention strategies to scale Lupiya Pay adoption.
· Work with IT & product teams to improve payment processing efficiency and transaction security.
· Implement digital marketing campaigns to drive Lupiya Pay adoption among SMEs, corporates, and individuals.
3. Lupiya Invest – P2P Investment Growth & Strategy
· Define investor growth strategy, expanding Lupiya Invest’s P2P investment community.
· Build partnerships with high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), institutional investors, and fund managers.
· Work closely with the product team to enhance investment features and increase investor confidence.
4. Sales & Customer Engagement
· Lead all customer acquisition channels, including direct sales, digital marketing, referral programs, and agent networks.
· Develop customer success programs to increase lifetime value (LTV) and retention rates.
· Drive repeat business and upsell opportunities through targeted engagement.
5. Expansion Strategy – Tanzania & Malawi Market Growth
· Develop a structured expansion playbook for Tanzania & Malawi, including: Market research & competitor analysis; Regulatory alignment & licensing strategy; Localizing Lupiya’s lending & investment offerings; Strategic partnerships with banks, telcos, and fintech operators
· Oversee talent acquisition and commercial team setup in new regions.
6. Partnerships & Strategic Alliances
· Build key relationships with banks, telcos, government institutions, and fintech partners.
· Negotiate and onboard strategic embedded finance and payment integrations.
· Identify and pursue B2B and B2C growth opportunities.
7. Marketing, Branding & Digital Growth
· Lead digital marketing efforts to dominate online engagement across all markets.
· Implement brand awareness campaigns to position Lupiya as a market leader in digital finance.
· Oversee customer journey mapping and digital funnel optimization.
8. Leadership & Performance Management
· Build and lead a high-performance commercial team, ensuring sales and marketing excellence.
· Define KPIs and performance metrics for commercial success.
· Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and customer-first innovation.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
· 10+ years experience in commercial leadership in fintech, banking, or digital payments.
· Proven success in scaling fintech products (payments, lending, investments).
· Expertise in B2B/B2C sales, partnerships, and market expansion.
· Experience in digital marketing, customer engagement, and go-to-market strategy.
· Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
