Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Logistics Customs Specialist to join the versatile Supply Chain Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Logistics Coordinator, you willl be responsible for determining customs classification of various commodities, apply for licenses and adhere to global regulatory requirements. Efficiently facilitate trade compliance for both the company, customs and other government agencies.
Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
• Responsible and accountable for determining Customs tariff classifications and regulatory requirements. Accurately classifying commodities according to the harmonized system (HS) code for proper duty evaluation.
• Maintain high-level of customs controls processes and procedures to ensure LMC maintains a low-risk rating with revenue authorities.
• Oversee entry auditing and reporting results and recommendations for improvement
• Effectively manage Customs CACP and AEO compliance obligations aimed at reducing border congestion and facilitating smooth trade movement of goods.
• Apply for Advance Tariff Rulings (ATR) and other related customs permits to minimize risk of customs disputes and disruption of production materials through various borders.
• Provide timely and efficient Customs border services that strive to meet and exceed customer expectations and deadlines. Ensuring that all imports and exports activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
• Ensure all business partners are performing within the scope and have valid business permits and contracts. Improve good customer relationship with all parties involved i.e, customs authorities, brokers, transporters, and agents to ensure efficient customs process.
• Manage the implementation and control of new legislations amendments or developments to improve border clearance services.
• Manage document retention system by ensuring that all customs documentations are accurately filed and costs allocated accurately.
• Align customs training systems and processes with overall site-wide training matrix
• Ensure all chemicals imported and exported comply with site and statutory standards
• Implement compliance with ISO standards, company objectives, policies, procedures, safe work practices, and relevant regulations.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate
• Minimum Diploma in customs clearance, Level 5 CIPS/CILT or related customs and transport course.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Customs Professional or in a similar role
• In-depth knowledge in transportation of cross border goods and customs laws, audits, regulations, and procedures
• Holder of valid Zambian driver’s license
• Familiarity with international trade agreements and customs compliance best practices.
• Excellent computer skills; use of MS Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook, databases.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team within Supply Chain Logistics and Tax departments.
• Understanding of the relationship between transporters, clearing agents, Government and importers and exporters
