We are seeking an experienced Mine Captain to oversee mining activities, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive mining experience, and a deep understanding of operational best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
– Operational Supervision: Manage daily mining activities to achieve production targets while maintaining safety and efficiency.
– Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce mine safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and ensure adherence to Zambian mining laws.
– Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor mining crews, providing guidance on best practices and productivity improvements.
– Resource Management: Allocate manpower, equipment, and materials effectively to optimize operations.
– Production Planning: Work with geologists and engineers to develop and execute mining plans aligned with operational goals.
– Reporting & Analysis: Prepare reports on production, safety incidents, and operational efficiency while recommending areas for improvement.
– Problem-Solving: Address operational challenges such as equipment breakdowns, geological obstacles, and workforce coordination.
– Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with management, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
– A minimum of 15 years of experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
– A diploma or degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field (preferred).
– A valid Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency.
– Strong knowledge of underground or open-pit mining methods, equipment, and regulations.
– Proven leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills.
