JOB DETAILS:
KALEYA SMALLHOLDERS COMPANY LIMITED an organisation based in Mazabuka producing sugar cane, soya beans, barley and macadamia nuts from a nucleus Estate and Smallholders settlement, invites applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill the following positions.
(1) ICT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
The ICT Systems Administrator reports to the Finance and ICT Manager. The successful candidate should be able to attend to basic computer software problems, server maintenance and provide computer services to the departments.
Main Responsibilities
• Ensures daily backups.
• Monitors daily events log to check for errors and taking appropriate action to prevent future problems.
• Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems, including Sage 200 Evolution, Microsoft 365, Windows Server 2016, 2019,2022.
• Maintain and troubleshoot IP CCTV systems, 2-way radio systems, printers, company website and access control systems.
• Periodically offer tips and training to all computer users ensuring maximum use.
• Attend to all software problems and arrange for routine maintenance.
• Implement and maintain security protocols, firewalls, and antivirus systems.
• Ensures that all hardware and software is adequately protected from damage, theft or unauthorised use.
• Maintain and support Dove personnel and Dove Payroll systems.
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly reports and ensure adherence to ITIL, ISOs and best practice standards.
• Attends to any other assignments relating to accounts section.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum Diploma in Computer Science.
• 3 years post qualifying work experience.
• Microsoft certified systems Administrator/ Engineer MCSA/MCSE.
• Experience in SAGE 200 accounting system desirable.
• Must be a member of ICTAZ.
(2) CROP PRODUCTION OFFICER
The Crop Production Officer reports to the Estate Manager. The successful candidate should be able to apply acceptable agronomic practices and produce high quality crops.
Main Responsibilities
• Establishes physical requirements for each crop field based on the budget and analysis of soil requirements.
• Produces production statistical reports and crop evaluation reports periodically.
• Supervises weather station to facilitate irrigation scheduling. and ensures that the field irrigation requirements are met.
• Monitors crop growth.
• Implements quality and quantity standards.
• Coordinates pest and disease surveillance, weed control and infield slashing.
• Monitors ripping/ridging on Estate fields.
• Carryout maintenance works on all existing canal and drainages on the Estate and establish new ones as per agreed budget.
• Manages forest conservation on the Estate.
• Arranges and coordinates land preparation for Estate fields.
• Coordinates herbiciding for Estate fields.
• Timorously arrange for the planting/replanting of identified fields.
• Ensure that trash management is carried out immediately after harvest.
• Timorously request for the necessary resources in agreed quantities and quality.
• Scheduling and monitoring irrigation drip, overhead and flood irrigated fields and ensures that the field irrigation requirements are met.
Qualifications and experience
• Degree in Agriculture/ Crop Science/ or other Agriculture disciplines.
• 5 years’ experience in sugarcane production.
• Working knowledge of farm equipment will be added advantage.
• High level computer literacy in Microsoft office, word and excel desired.
• Strengths in Agronomy & Agric business planning / management will be added advantage.
• Experience in working with sub surface drip will be added advantage.
• Must have a valid driver’s licence.
