Position Overview:The purpose of the program assistant role is to assist in identifying rural community needs and supporting women in the areas of social and economic empowerment. Develop interventions, mobilization of resources, planning, execution, and monitoring of program activities. The role also involves developing fundraising documents such as proposals and concept notes. The ideal candidate should have demonstrable in administrative tasks supporting project logistics including the ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.
This is a 3-month role, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funding.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Design:
• Assist in driving strategic program planning in collaboration with the program coordinator and stakeholders.
• Identify community needs and assist in designing evidence-based interventions.
• Conduct research and analysis to inform program design, incorporating best practices and considering the unique context of vulnerable rural communities.
Program Management and Implementation:
• Support the Programs Coordinator in overseeing the effective planning, execution, and monitoring of programs (projects, grantmaking, learning)
• Assist in ensuring adherence to project goals, timelines, and budgets.
• Support in ensuring smooth program implementation and delivery of high-quality services
• Ensure efficient resource allocation, risk management, and problem-solving to address challenges during program implementation.
• Contribute to the development of work plans, budgets and progress reports as required by the organization, donors and other partners.
Fundraising:
• Support the Programs Coordinator in identification of new program opportunities, partnerships, and funding sources to expand Kuwala’s impact and reach.
• Develop proposals and concept notes for funding applications.
Capacity Building:
• Support and facilitate training and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the skills and expertise of the programs team.
• Facilitate the development of a programs database to house all program records.
• Support in facilitating content development of easy-to-read training modules/ materials (Financial Education/Entrepreneurship).

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
• Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, partner organizations, community leaders, and donors.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs, priorities, and opportunities for program collaboration and synergy.
• Facilitate beneficiary mobilization in liaison with relevant stakeholders.
• Support stakeholder identification and mapping to feed into a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy.
• Provide on-going support to the program beneficiary groups and other stakeholders.

Administration
• Support in mobilization of all project requirements supporting project success. This includes communication with stakeholders, organizing meetings, and reports and meeting minutes development.
• Lead all vehicle driving assignments as and when requested.

Monitoring and Evaluation
• Data Collection and Management:Assist in the systematic gathering, verification, and organization of data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Monitoring Program Activities: Support the ongoing tracking and documentation of program activities, outputs, and outcomes against predetermined indicators and targets. Help generate regular progress reports to inform stakeholders about the program’s performance and achievements.

Ad Hoc Duties
• Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the Programs Coordinator.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, Development Studies, Social Work, or an equivalent field.
• Understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles or concepts.
• Strong budgeting skills and the ability to manage financial resources effectively.
• Excellent report-writing skills with attention to detail and clarity.
• Experience in writing fundraising documents, including concept notes and proposals.
• Class 1 driver’s license with proven experience in driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• One year experience (advantageous but not mandatory)
