JOB DETAILS:
Who We Are
Rivuuz is a tech-enabled construction management startup helping homeowners navigate the often-chaotic world of residential construction. We act as a trusted guide, ensuring homeowners hire the right professionals, avoid costly mistakes, and stay on track. We don’t just connect people – we actively manage projects to make sure things get done right, on time, and within budget.
Why Join Us?
You’ll make a real impact. Homeowners rely on us to bring their dream homes to life, and your work will directly influence their experience. If you love variety, you’ll thrive here – no two days or projects are ever the same. We’re a small but ambitious team, and if you’re looking for growth, more responsibility and a real challenge, you’ll find it here.
The Bad News
This isn’t an easy job. You’ll juggle multiple projects, manage stressed homeowners, and deal with subcontractors who may be hard to reach.
Things will go wrong. Problems will pop up unexpectedly, and you’ll need to think on your feet and manage expectations.
If you’re looking for a predictable, low-pressure role, this isn’t it. Construction is fast-paced and unpredictable, and you’ll need to thrive in that environment.
The Good Stuff
If you love problem-solving and making an impact, this job is for you. You’ll have ownership of projects and the chance to shape how we do things as we grow.
You’ll work with a team that values initiative, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Your ideas will be heard and put to good use.
You’ll help people build their homes with less stress and fewer costly mistakes. At the end of the day, that’s rewarding.
What You’ll Be Doing
This isn’t a desk job—you’ll be actively involved in every step of the construction process, from start to finish. Here’s what that looks like:
Guiding Homeowners Through Construction Decisions
Building a home can be overwhelming for most people. Your role will be to help homeowners make informed decisions before breaking ground, reviewing their plans, budgets, and site conditions to ensure a realistic roadmap. You’ll help select the right vetted pros and vendors, explain what to expect, and guide them away from common mistakes.
Overseeing Project Execution
During the project, you’ll be the primary point of contact for the homeowner. You’ll ensure the work progresses as planned, tracking budgets, timelines, and quality standards. If something goes wrong (because let’s face it, it always does in construction), you’ll troubleshoot, propose solutions, and keep the project moving.
Managing Relationships with Professionals
You’ll work closely with our vetted network of construction professionals to ensure high-quality work. If a homeowner needs to switch contractors mid-project, you’ll help them navigate the process smoothly. You’ll also provide feedback to improve our vetting system, ensuring we work with the best pros.
Keeping Up with Construction Trends & Best Practices
Construction is always evolving, and so are we. We want someone who stays updated on industry trends, suggests improvements, and helps refine our tech tools to improve project management and the homeowner experience.
Job Requirements
We’re looking for someone with a background in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, with hands-on experience managing residential construction projects. You should be comfortable working with tradespeople, vendors, and suppliers to ensure projects run smoothly. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll need to explain technical details in a way homeowners can understand.
You’ll need to be highly organized, capable of juggling multiple projects, and able to make quick decisions. If you have experience with project management software and improving efficiency, that’s a bonus. You must thrive in a dynamic environment and be ready to solve problems and get things done every. single. day.
Now, let’s talk about the character requirements:
You need to be the type of person who loves getting things done. Every day, you will be checking off tasks—important tasks, fun tasks, necessary tasks – all of which help homeowners build their dream homes with less stress.
You’ll be working on the computer quite a bit. So, you’ll need to be comfortable with managing client communications, updating project management tools, and navigating construction-related software and emails.
You’ll be on the phone a lot. You need to enjoy talking with people, giving direction, and keeping everyone—homeowners, contractors, and the team – on the same page.
You need to be someone who gets joy out of delivering remarkable experiences to others. You need to someone who feels good making clients feel heard, supported, and confident in their project
You need to be detail-oriented. We don’t want you rushing through tasks or cutting corners—our clients trust us to get it right, and that’s exactly what is expected of everyone on the team. You’ll need to focus on getting things done right, not fast.
We want you to be meticulous in your work. If you’re someone who prefers to work quietly and get things done with precision, that’s fine! We’re not looking for the life of the party – just a dedicated, reliable team member who takes pride in their work.
In short, you will be working in a team to provide a stress-free building experience for homeowners, in any way you can. Our office is casual, but we expect professionalism and punctuality. We value a “get it done” attitude and offer a supportive, collaborative environment.
Our office is casual and laid-back, we were crocs to work and have house slippers at our desks, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality. But here’s the thing: we don’t expect perfection or for you to have all the skills right off the bat. We can teach you that. What we do expect is intelligence, energy, and a “get it done” attitude.
In addition to being a detailed person, you must follow systems and processes. Just to prove that you are detail-oriented and can follow procedures, when you apply for this position in the subject line of the email you must include “I’m ready to help build dream homes” in the subject line. Yep, that’s our little trick to sort out the people who blanket send their resume to anyone and everyone, from the people (like you!) who are genuinely interested in this position.
We are looking to bring someone on board as soon as possible, but we will spend the necessary time to find the best fit both in abilities and culturally. One thing that will give you a BIG advantage (but is optional) is to send a short video along with your resume. In your video tell us about something in your personal or work history that makes you the perfect for this job and why you will rock this position. This is purely for us to get a sense of your personality. And if you decide not to send a video (that’s ok), please tell us why you chose not to send in a video.
If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
