JOB DETAILS:
• The MCH will be based in Kasenengwa District and directly reports to the THP- Zambia’s Nutritionist.
• He/she also collaborates with the Finance team and other program officers of THP- Zambia.
• He/She will be responsible for the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of project activities aimed at improving Maternal and Child Health.
Expected results include:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Implementation:
• Plan and execute maternal and child health interventions as per project objectives.
• Support the development and dissemination of health education materials.
• Conduct community mobilization and engagement activities to promote maternal and child health practices.
2. Monitoring and Evaluation:
• Collect, analyze, and report data on project activities and outcomes.
• Conduct routine site visits to monitor project implementation and provide technical support.
• Prepare periodic progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
3. Capacity Building and Training:
• Organize and facilitate training sessions for community health workers, volunteers, and local health personnel.
• Provide mentorship and technical support to field staff and partner organizations.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:
• Liaise with government health departments, NGOs, and other key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships.
• Represent the project in relevant meetings, workshops, and forums.
5. Resource Management and Compliance:
• Ensure that project activities comply with organizational and donor requirements.
• Efficiency utilization of organization resources.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, Public Health, or Nursing.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in maternal and child health programming.
• Experience working in community-based health projects and collaborating with local stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of maternal and child health policies and best practices.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with data management tools.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Able to ride a motorbike is a must.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in nutrition programming for maternal and child health.
• Knowledge of health systems strengthening and community health strategies.
