JOB DETAILS:
Family Development Initiatives (FDI) working with UNICEF will be implementing the Breaking the Cycle “Strengthening Community and Adolescent Partnerships to End Child Marriage and Adolescent Pregnancies in Zambia” project, which aims to end child marriages in Petauke and Chipata districts. To successfully implement this project, FDI is recruiting for the following position:

Primary Responsibilities
Project Implementation and Coordination
• Ensure timely execution of project activities as outlined in the project documents.
• Coordinate training, workshops, and community sensitization campaigns on ending child marriage and adolescent pregnancies.
• Collaborate with adolescents, parents, traditional and religious leaders, schools, and community groups to strengthen child protection mechanisms.
• Support the establishment of peer support groups and mentorship programs for adolescents in schools and at the community level.
Community Engagement and Partnership Development
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including traditional and religious leaders, government agencies, schools, health facilities, and NGOs.
• Facilitate dialogues to address cultural and societal norms that contribute to child marriage and adolescent pregnancies.
• Act as the liaison between the project and community partners to ensure alignment of objectives and activities.
• Work to expand the portfolio for increased funding
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
• Regularly monitor project activities and collect data to assess progress and impact.
• Prepare detailed and timely project reports for submission to the Thematic Lead Manager.
• Contribute to documentation of success stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
Capacity Building
• Support training sessions for community members, adolescents, and other stakeholders on child rights, gender equality, and reproductive health.
• Strengthen the capacity of community structures to advocate for and implement child protection policies.
Advocacy and Awareness Raising
• Organize public awareness campaigns to highlight the negative impacts of child marriage and adolescent pregnancies.
• Disseminate IEC materials to promote behavior change and raise awareness about reproductive health and education opportunities for adolescents.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Public Health, Education, Gender Studies, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in project implementation, particularly in gender equality, child protection, or adolescent health.
• Proven experience in community engagement and mobilization.
• Familiarity with Zambian cultural and social dynamics, especially concerning child marriage and adolescent health.

Key Competencies
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of child rights, gender equality, and reproductive health issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English and local languages relevant to the project area.
