JOB DETAILS:
The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC (ZAFFICO) is a listed and publicly traded company whose mission is to establish and manage industrial exotic forest plantations and agroforestry products in order to meet demand and maximize return on investment.
In pursuance of its mission and strategic goals, the Corporation is now inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the underlisted positions at the Corporation’s INTEGRATED WOOD PROCESSING PLANT in KALULUSHI:

3.1 JOB PURPOSE
To ensure safe and efficient operating of sawmill equipment including the Multirip, Horizontal Resaw and Auto Edger for the purpose of processing logs and cants into sawn timber.

3.2 MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER
i. Ensure timber is properly aligned during ripping, resawing and edging process;
ii. Monitor and manage log flow on the crossfeed chain;
iii. Feed materials into the Horizontal Resaw, Multirip and Auto Edger;
iv. Monitor flow and ensure alignment material in the Horizontal Resaw, Multirip and Auto Edger;
v. Control the cutting process of the Horizontal Resaw, Multirip and Auto Edger;
vi. Monitor production output;
vii. Maintain and monitor the conveyor operation;
viii. Ensure efficient transfer of materials:
ix. Ensure smooth transfer of timber from the from Horizontal Resaw, Multirip to the Auto Edger;
x. Inspect equipment before commencing processing;
xi. Monitors all production processes in accordance with laid down procedures;
xii. Ensure cleanliness and compliance with safety standards, before during and after work;
xiii. Report any fault experienced in the plant and ensure adherence to service schedules;
xiv. Ensures maximum utilization of logs and minimize wood wastage;
xv. Report all faults and damages that may have been caused during the process of treatment to the relevant authority on time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12 School Certificate/GCE
• Certificate/Diploma in Instrumentation/Production Management/ Engineering
• 3 years post qualification experience
• Training in sawmilling will be an added advantage
