Job Description
Kariba Minerals Limited is a mining company and has long been a reliable source of high-quality Amethyst for major manufacturers of gemstone related products. The company is owned 100% by ZCCM Investment Holdings. The company’s market share is estimated at over 90% of the Amethyst originating from Zambia, and we are arguably the largest single Amethyst producer in the world. Presently, the company exports its products mainly to international markets. Worldwide, it is one of the oldest mines for semi-precious stones and one of the largest sources of quality Amethysts. Kariba mine is based in Mapatizya which is approximately 110km from Kalomo in the Southern Province.
The company is therefore inviting applications from highly motivated, result oriented, qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacancy:
Job Purpose
Responsible for approaching potential clients, offering advice, helping hesitant customers make a decision, closing sales, preventing store thefts, and general management of the store.
Key Responsibilities
1. Listen attentively to customer’s needs and give explicit explanation to satisfy the customer
2. Present the customer with the needed jewellery and provide information, such as pricing
3. Facilitate payments after every purchase
4. Take charge of all the inventories in the shop or kiosk by entering them into the computer system
5. Conduct daily display of all items that are available for sale in the shop
6. Entertain customers and answer questions respectfully
7. Ensure regular increase in sales of jewellery products
8. Achieve goals set by the employer
9. Introduce sales promotion to customers so as to entice them to make purchases
10. Ensure that products are well arranged in orderly manner
11. Properly operates a cash register and maintain all financial transactions effectively and efficiently
12. Strictly adhere to company policies
13. Help customers to make the right decisions so that they can make the right jewellery purchases
14. Ensure all documents relating to the purchase of any jewellery are also bagged with the goods purchased
15. Send appreciation messages to customers and keep them informed concerning latest arrivals
16. Ensure that all pieces of jewellery are returned to their secured places after the day’s business
17. Ensure the proper display of company signage in order for customers to easily locate the jewellery shop or kiosk
18. Perform any other tasks assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications, Experience & other attributes
1. Grade 12 certificate
2. Minimum of a Diploma in Business, Marketing or equivalent
3. At least 2 years’ work experience in retail sales or similar business
4. Must have excellent knowledge of jewellery products
5. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
6. Must be customer service oriented
