JOB DETAILS:
The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC (ZAFFICO) is a listed and publicly traded company whose mission is to establish and manage industrial exotic forest plantations and agroforestry products in order to meet demand and maximize return on investment.
In pursuance of its mission and strategic goals, the Corporation is now inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the underlisted positions at the Corporation’s INTEGRATED WOOD PROCESSING PLANT in KALULUSHI:

1.0 TWIN VERTICAL SAW OPERATOR (01)
1.1 JOB PURPOSE
To operate the Twin Vertical Saw (Double Slabber) in accordance with the manufacturer’s manual and instructions for the purpose of converting logs into cants in readiness for further processing. The operator must ensure high-quality cuts, meet production targets, and maintain a safe working
environment.

1.2 MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER
i. Supervise Log Deck Operators to ensure smooth flow of logs in the Sawmill;
ii. Oversee log feeding into the Twin Vertical Saw;
iii. Ensure efficient operation and monitor settings of the Twin Vertical Saw
iv. Control the cutting process (double slabbing);
v. Adjust settings as necessary to ensure good recovery;
vi. Monitor performance of the Twin Vertical Saw:
vii. Assist in handling and stacking cut timber if process fails;
viii. Ensure smooth transfer of timber from the from Twin Vertical Saw to the Multirip;
ix. Ensure smooth transfer of slabs from the Twin Vertical Saw to the Resaw;
x. Inspect the equipment before commencing processing
xi. Monitor all production processes in accordance with laid downprocedures;
xii. Ensure cleanliness and compliance with safety standards, before, during and after work;
xiii. Report any fault experienced in the Plant and ensure adherence to service schedules;
xiv.Ensure maximum utilization of logs and minimize wood wastage.

1.3 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12 School Certificate/GCE
• Certificate/Diploma in Instrumentation/Production Management/Engineering
• 3 years post qualification experience
• Training in sawmilling will be an added advantage
